Our Story
Crafted with Fire & Heart
I'm a ten-year Navy veteran who first discovered woodworking in 2021 while stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. What started as a simple hobby quickly became something more meaningful. Working with wood gave me a way to slow down, focus my hands, and quiet my mind. In many ways, it became a creative outlet and a way to manage the stress and anxiety that can come with military life.
I originally began with pyrography, the art of burning images into wood by hand. Early projects were simple pieces — sports logos, small personalized gifts, and wedding items for friends and family. But the process of shaping wood and creating something lasting quickly pulled me deeper into the craft.
After separating from the Navy, I moved back home to South Jersey, where I had grown up in Burlington County before my military service. Now living in Swedesboro, I began expanding my woodworking into new areas — building furniture, creating custom pieces, and experimenting with new tools and techniques.

Today, Ember & Burl is where all of those ideas come together. I enjoy working with live-edge wood, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern tools like laser engraving, and constantly learning new skills — from epoxy work to wood turning on the lathe. One of the things I love most about woodworking is that there is always something new to learn and a new challenge to take on.
Ember & Burl isn't just about making things. It's about creating pieces with character — items that feel personal, meaningful, and built to last. Whether it's a custom project, a unique gift, or something completely new that we design together, I'd love the opportunity to build something for you.
The Process
From raw wood to finished piece
Select the Wood
Every piece begins with choosing the right material. We source premium burls, reclaimed timber, and sustainably harvested hardwoods for their unique character.
Shape & Design
Using a mix of traditional hand tools and modern equipment, we carefully shape each piece, honoring the natural grain and form of the wood.
Finish & Seal
Multiple rounds of sanding, finishing, and sealing ensure every piece is smooth to the touch and protected for years of use.
Deliver to You
Each piece is carefully packaged and shipped to your door, ready to be cherished as a unique work of art.
What We Stand For
The principles behind every piece
Quality Over Quantity
We don't mass produce. Every piece gets our full attention, from material selection to the final coat of finish.
Sustainable Sourcing
We prioritize reclaimed wood and sustainably harvested materials whenever possible, giving new life to old wood.
Built to Last
Our finishes and construction methods are chosen for durability. These pieces are meant to be used, loved, and passed down.
